Retinoids

Retinoids are a great product to improve skin health and appearance, primarily for anti-aging and acne treatment. Retinoids, like retinol and tretinoin, accelerate cell turnover, stimulate collagen production, and help with issues like fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, and acne. These are steps you should take when implementing retinoids to minimize side effects. Retinol is a product that can cause burning and irritation to your skin if not used correctly.

How To Implement

  • Only use at night on clean, dry skin.

  • START SLOW! Begin with 0.01% strength, then work up to the next strength level when that bottle runs out.

  • Use a pea-sized amount for the whole face and neck.

  • Always moisturize after.

  • Starting out, only use ONE night per week. When sighs of dryness, redness, and irritation subside, work up to FIVE nights a week.

Special Considerations

  • Always wear sunscreen when adding retinoids to your skin care routine. It will make you more sensitive to the sun.

  • If you're feeling dry use a petroleum jelly based product over top of moisturizer to seal in moisture.

  • Use CAUTION around eyes.

  • If you have extremely sensitive skin can apply (moisturizer-retinoid-moisturizer)  in that order.
